Safety Information

Resort Style Bean Bags fully comply with Australian Product Safety Standards, which are included below for information along with links to the relevant government websites. Resort Style Bean Bags have been designed with multiple safety levels to guard against injury and harm, particularly for babies and young children. PLEASE READ OUR SAFETY INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS BELOW!

Our products are not to be used as a floatation device, nor are they designed for babies or infants as they may present a suffocation risk. Children must be supervised at all times. Our products are fitted with a child-lock zip (see below) for extra safety. We do not recommend any of our products, including TimeOut, for use by children under 3 years of age.

An IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE is attached to all Resort Style Bean Bags. You MUST READ this notice and FOLLOW the instructions to ensure the safety of your bean bags. For safety reasons, the pull tag on the zipper which opens and closes the bean bag has been removed. To open and close the zipper for filing, we recommend you temporarily attach a small paper clip to the zipper. When your bean bag has been filled, YOU MUST REMOVE THE PAPER CLIP in order to make your bean bag safe for use.  Doing this will prevent small children and babies from opening the bean bag.  WARNING: As noted on the ACCC website, small lightweight beads must be avoided as a filler since they present a severe danger to children if swallowed or inhaled.

Bean Bag Safety

(Source: ACCC Website - click here)

Only buy bean bags and bean bag fillings that meet the mandatory standard !!!!!!!!

The bean bag, bean bag cover and refill bean packages must have a warning that is easy to read and clearly visible, such as the one shown below:

“WARNING: Small Lightweight Beads Present a Severe Danger to Children if Swallowed or Inhaled.”

The warning should be attached securely to, or stamped on, the bag or package with the words in red and on a white background. It is illegal to sell bags without this warning.

If there is an opening, there must be a childproof zip or fastener.

To make sure the zip or fastener is child resistant, check that it locks into place and does not have a tab or handle that a child can use to open the bag or cover.

Use bean  bags safely

Keep beans, bag covers and bean bag refills out of reach of children.

Never leave children alone when they are playing with a bean bag.

Check bean bags for sturdy seams that stop beads from leaking out. This makes the bean bag difficult for a pet or child to tear open.
